Natural Coconut Oil and Beeswax Board Butter

While most people moisturize their boards using mineral oil or a mineral oil mix, we have chosen to go a more natural route with our board butter because we don’t want to use any petroleum by products in our products. We want you to have peace of mind with what you’re putting on your boards.

Our board butter contains Fractionated Coconut Oil and local Beeswax from Ontario Honey Creations!

You should use our board butter on your board at least once a month to maintain best quality in the board. If you use the board heavily, you may need to moisturize sooner. 

Before you moisturize your board, it is important to make sure it is good and clean!! Follow these steps below:

1. Sprinkle it liberally with some Kosher salt and scrub with half a lemon. Squeeze a bit of lemon juice onto the board as you scrub. The salt is a great way to scrub off any particulates. The lemon juice sanitizes and helps remove odors.
2. Once it is scrubbed and wet, let the salt/lemon juice mixture sit there for a minute. 
3. Make sure you rinse thoroughly. Dry with a towel and let them air dry for a couple of hours before you moisturize them with the wood butter. You want the cutting board completely dry before you start moisturizing.
4. You are now ready to moisturize your board with our natural coconut oil and beeswax board butter

As this is a handmade product, there will be slight differences between items, no 2 will be exactly identical as the oil and wax can settle differently.
